hardware acceleration

how does this work?
my onboard c-media cmi8738 uses 3/4 of acceleration as driver default under W2k pro and full acceleration under 98SE. sometimes i still get some delay in the desktop sounds using 2K pro.
could someone explain the hardware acceleration thing?

i think so. up to the 3/4 description says the directsound support is being released. i dont know what else above it (perhaps EAX and stuff like that - w2k). CMI8738 supports only directx6 so directsound is all i can play with.

You can always try setting the hardware acceleration to full. If you experience problems with sound bring it back down to the default level. I believe this is a fallback for older hardware
