My 2nd rig just finished a WU...sent the WU, and started the next...I noticed the name of the protien...

Good One Mr B, I got a few of these myself, but I can't wait to see the dual 1.2s crank the WU out though!!!!!
What was also funny was the DNA Binder Mimic Folded protiens in v1. If they're folded, why are we folding them??

I also have a PIII 700E@933 and it takes 14.75hrs to complete a native or plain villen. As a matter of fact I started a regular villen at 04:56:14 this morning on the P41.7@1.87 and it is completing at 18:42:26 this evening. My athlon started a villen at 09:22:36 this morning and completed it at 18:12:47, also this evening. I could have bought two AMD 1.4 folders with the cost of parts for the 1.7 at the time I bought them. Just throwing that out for the guys undecided on which way they want to go.

what exacically is FOLDING??. .do i have to overclock to do it?...
You don't have to overclock the fold :)
I could try to explain it but the best explanation is probably on the projects main site.

Hope that helps

First let me welcome you to the forum. Folding is a distributed computing project. It is run by stanford University. We have a folding team here at overclockers.com. We are currently in second place in the world. here is a link to a thread that will give you more information. http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?threadid=43188&referrerid=8511
I hope you take the time to read the post and consider joining. We need the help right now.
Edit: and to answer your second question you don't need to overclock to fold. But it is a good idea to keep an eye on your temps because it runs your procesor at 100%.

sort of 100%... remember it's a idle class priorty program. So it only uses unused cpu clock cycles(it what cpu cycle are instruction sets i believe). So say you playing Half-life or some other game...it won't be affected by running Folding@Home at all. Say you get up to go to the kitchen while surfing the internet then while your gone the F@H will uses every avaible clock cycle. During all this time your folding the cpu usage IS 100% .
If your playing a game that uses 95% of the cpu clock cycles then F@H will use the remaining 5%. Or if you surfing the internet and checking email etc then lets assume cpu usage is about 35% then folding will use the remaining 65%. I ahve played EQ, Kohan Immortal Soveriegn, Kohan: Ahriman's Gift(beta tested both Kohan's and am listed in the credits of the first one), Dark Age of Camelot, Delta Force 2, and many other games and have had absolutely NO PROBLEMS with any of them , nor any slow downs as a result of folding 24/7.
Tithulta is right I am just tired and forgot to mention that important fact. Folding for science!!!
