I have a MSI6309 Lite mother board. I succeeded overclocking my pentium III 750 up to 966 Mhz(with windows 98SE, 830 Mhz with win2k) with 2.03 v core voltage. I have a globalwin wbk32 cooler (up to 6800 rpm). I would like to rize ti L2 cache Latency, in order to make my CPU more stable. My bios doesn't have this feature. Is there another way to rise the L2 cache Latency??? such as connecting some CPU pins ??? :D
thanks

Ummmm..............I'm pretty sure the L2 cache is unchangeable on our newer procs. With the old PII's and Celerons you could(and possibly the old Katmai core PIII's)
And by the way............Welcome to OCers.com :D
Yea my Abit BE-6 option has it.. Mine lat is at 1 right now hehe..
And yes I am on a Katmai I believe this cache lat is a problem if I were to overclock to 620 I would have to disable the L2 cache which is very important to me, since I do Seti.
Enjoy.

Hey Yodums, adjust the lat upwards not down. My old PII was default lat of I think 5, bumped it up to 8 and cranked that old PII 300@ 504 :D

How high? Last time it was at 9 and hell it didn't even detect my L2 Cache.

Yes, lower is better but by raising you can sometimes acheive more stability. If I can find it, I've got an old prog by H.Oda for L2 manipulation. You don't need it to change your L2 lat, but with this prog you can test and see if the lat you chose will work.

I tried setting the lat to 8 and tried to go 600 once popping to the desktop it self-rebooted.. I set it to 9 it won't detect my L2..
So its back at 1 :)
