I can already tell this is going to end up as a war.

It really depends on what you want. If you want to look at big benchmark numbers, choose an nVidia card (I hear the ti500's give good benchies) but if you want real-world gaming performance, you should go w/ the ATI Radeon 8500 DVI.

Nuff said.

I think ONI got it mixed up. Its the other way around. The Radeon's give out big numbers(Nvidia comes a close 2nd)while the Nvidia is tops in gameplay itself.(Radeon could overcome this if they ever get out a decent driver)!

Oooh.. War already..lol.. Yeah i n=know the raedons give bigger numbers but thats because they lower quality. I can get a retail raedon for $240 but i realy dont like ATI cards as i have always been a geforce man and nvidia provides better drivers. The ati cards have always had the lead in extras but the seems to be disapearing with geforce cards cominf with tv out etc... So im thinking of which geforce to get... the 3, ti200, ti500, which brand..

since youve ruled out ATI i would get a Ti200 as this is the best bang for buck.....get a Leadtek, or Visiontek, or ASUS, or Hercules.....they are all good cards....

Flat out the ATI cards are the best bang for your buck. They provide the best 2d Video quality contrary to what you think and they also provide the best dvd playback. In gaming performance I would currently give the edge to Ti500 vs ATI 8500 but with the next driver release by ATI it could be the other way around.

For all around use and price I think the ATI cards are a better buy. I have woned both brands and after having the ATI cards there IS NO comparison in 2 d video quality unless you use a software prog like colorific to correct the Geforce 2 D video card probs, but why should you have to do this.

Outa the box the ATI cards are better in 2d quality/clarity and 3 d imho, but because of driver issues the geforce card for you sounds like the better route.

I have not had omne driver issue to date using my radeon 64 ddr vivo and I get great performance with all the currnet games .

Sounds like you had your mnind made up anyways , satisfy your need and get a nvidia card but pay more and I do not agree that paying more always gets you the better product.

I read a bunch of reviews - for 3D the GEF3 ti500 blows the ATI8500 away in everything with every benchmark prog out there!

www.pcmag.com - they cover it all!

The Radeon 8500 holds top spot in the hall of fame beating Ti500.

ps the bottom line is you will find varies repots allover the net, where the radeon wins in more areas than the Ti500, but yes the Ti500 currently beats the ATIc ard in most aspects. Some reports showe a slim margin others a larger margin but you can bet new drivers will solve this issue and imho put the radeon ahead

I just think sit is a better deal to spend less on a card that offers better features and technology for the future

That "Hall of Fame" BS is just readers posting their "BIASED" opinions. It has nothing to do with actual quality of the product, otherwise the Ti500 would easily hold that spot right now.:p

So what it is still in top spot so I guess that means that alot f owners or ATi fans like the card and its performance.

You and I both know that the drivers will get better and performancve will improve on this card, and hey how bout the 8800, sure looks sweet but ya I know what you will say, get your drivers together first before you put out another product.

There are issues with any type of commodity built, nothing is perfect but the radeon 8500 will be soon, hehehehhehe

And I guess you would say the Ti500 is perfect so you won LOL

If you have bones to kill get the Raedon 8500 or the GeForce 3 Ti500

If you dont want to kill that much get the Ti200 which can overclock to GeForce 3 clock speeds.
