Hey guys -- about a week ago my roomate got a new Linksys WRT54G to replace our flakey DI-604. It's been running great up until yesterday when the thing appears to have suddently died.
After quite a bit of screwing around with the thing, it appears that it's running as a hub/switch instead of a router. The default address 192.168.1.1 isn't pingable, and it refuses to hand out addresses via DHCP (the address I have now was recieved by Comcast's DCHP server). Because of this, if I'm using the net my roomate won't get an IP (comcast only hands out one per customer) and can't access the net, and vice-versa.
I've tried resetting multiple times (though I can't find a definitive guide on exactly how to reset... mabey it's more complex than just hitting the button?) to no avail. Google brings up two or three people who've had this problem as well, and each has returned the router.
I'd rather not replace the router (though it's not out of the question -- thank goodness for 30 day returns!) if this is fixable. Any ideas on how to proceed?
