First saw this on the Ars Open Forum, and of course, they were going about things the wrong way, like usual. They were actually thinking of putting this thing directly on their processors. 50W pelt against a 100W T-Bird.. yeah. Basicly what this thing is, from top to bottom, a fan attached to an aluminum heatsink with a 50W peltier and a "probe" coming from the pelt. This is what the site says:
Capable of cooling 10 gallons of water more than 20°F under ambient temperature in an insulated container, the IceProbeŽ is also well suited for many other liquid cooling applications.
20F under ambient is over an hour or two though, but since us watercooled PCs running with resevoirs, with no more than a quart of water in the resevoir, I think this thing could be a real good water chiller. Add some floaties or a holding bar in your resevoir and your set, at least that is my thinking.
So what do you guys think and most importantly think you can find a distributor of these things so I can test one or two?
