I looked at heatsink reviews and after long considerations decided on getting DC1206BM-L638 heatsinks. Both articles about them said that the fans are loud. I decided then to get DC1206BM-L625 (1 version down), hoping it won't be as loud. I was wrong Yikes, I think my system is gonna take off some day and fly to Wonderland. I have an old Pentium 200 with a bad hard drive that screeches constantly, but my new system is louder than that.

So the heatsinks I have now are 2 DC1206BM-L625 w/ dense fins High - End Cooler w/ 6800 RPM with Delta 38 fan
http://www.dynatron-corp.com They are for my Dual AMD Athlon MP 1600 system.

Since they are so loud, I am thinking of changing them to something else.

I'd go back to the heatsink reviews, but I don't want to take any chances this time.

I have 2 Premium Jet Cools from Antec: http://www.antec-inc.com/product/fans/jetcool.html
Reviews say they are not as good though.
I also thought of ordering Thermaltake Volcano 5 as an alternative, but I don't want to take any chances there either, since I don't know how good/how loud they are.

So, can you help me ?
What heatsink would you recommend that's not AS loud but still offers a fairly good performance ?
Or, would you say that I'll get the noice no matter what ? Are there any soundproof wall solutions ? :)

My stats:
4 Antec case fans 4-pin 80mm Plastic DC Sleeve Bearing Fan
(http://www.antec-inc.com/product/fans/f_case.html)
1 video card fan, small
1 power supply fan -- SX1040 case & power supply from Antec
(http://www.antec-inc.com/product/cases/sohoser.html)
all the above are relatively quiet
2 6800 RPM Delta 38 fans on heatsinks -- NOT quiet

thanks you !

those heatsinks are good, if you are using deltas try running them at 7 volts insted of 12 by connecting the 0volt (black) to the +5 volt line(yellow)

try the glaciator II i have one on my tbird 1.4 and while not as quiet as my stock HSF on my athlon 550 it sounds about like a VCR rewinding not a F-18 on full afts:D

go for the Volcano6Cu not the Cu+ The 6Cu has a 4500RPM fan that's quite a bit quieter then the delta's or even the 7000RPM fan on the Cu+

They are the same heatsink just different fan.

Or on a side note pop the fans off your older HS and try them on your new ones that might be able to get you better temps at lower noise. Depending on the CFM of the older fans you have! :)

Glaciator II, no doubt. Great performance and low noise.
