hey everyone! im really not looking for a gaming card.. although i would like to play games such as counter strike source, the sims, warcraft 3, and so forth. im MAINLY interested in a videocard that is as quiet as possible because im using this computer mainly for a home recording studio, and all mic recordings are going to be in the same room, so whining gfx card fans are not enjoyable. i have an asus a8v deluxe which is agp. ive closed it down to these cards...

the 6600 is a little more money then i would like to spend... id be willing to go with the 6200, that being my favorite choice at the moment as far as performance to noise factor. i just wanna know of any other suggestions or other brands that have fairly quiet fans as well. thanks!

I would get a 6600gt 256mb. Can find them for $120 and the extra 128mb of memory would definetly help with the Sims2

eVGA 6600 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130232)

+

AeroCool VM-101 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835127101)

and you've got a noiseless, low power consumption, cooler running video card that'll play all of those games fine while not interfering with your recordings. :santa2:

I recommend the Arctic Cooling NV Silencer series with Riva Tuner. You can set the fan settings to whatever you want so that when you are recording you can run slient and when playing games you can run quiet.

I vote for the 7600GS, passively cooled.
