Well, my Level 61 Kasar Hood on Knight Online got hacked the other day, and all of the items on my account were stolen.

The Customer support is so bad in this game, it doesn't look like they're going to rollback my character.

I was about to quit this game soon anyhow, do to the HUGE problem that this game has with cheaters, item duping, and terrible customer support.

The only problem, is that Knight Online had an amazingly fun PvP system, and I am worried I will not find a replacement for this.

I am looking for a new MMORPG to play that fits the following bill:

~ I am only really interested in a game with good PvP. PvP is the main thing I really care about in an MMORPG. PvP must be fast-paced, skill-intensive (as-in, it takes skill to be good at it, not just a high level and eBayed gear), and varied. Raiding in shared map zones is key, as is class variety and a balanced game.

~ I am not interested in a game with PvP "problems" like RF. I don't want a game where repotting every three seconds makes you invincible, and a person 3 levels higher than you is untoucheable.

~ I would rather avoid a game where intensive grinding is neccessary to gain a high level. I can deal with grinding, but only if the PvE gaming is fast paced, team-oriented, and involving.

~ I don't care if a subscription fee is involved, so long as there are VERY FEW problems with cheaters, customer support, and hacking in the game. I'll pay to play if the service reflects the cost.

~ I would rather play a game that is fairly new. I am really only interested in playing at the top tier of any given game, in both PvP and PvE. I'm not going to pick up EverQuest, becuase I know that it has been around too long for me to ever hope at making it into the top 5% of the game.

~ I need a game that is team-based in both PvP and PvE. I use a mic and Teamspeak/Vent, and would like to continue to be involved in team play in whatever new game I pick up. A game where you solo a lot, or PvE to do all kinds of quests and stuff a lot, isn't really what I am looking for - I am looking for team-based PvP.

~ Here's the clincher. I need a game that will be playeable on a 56K internet connection, untill I move back to school and my high speed :D. Aside from that, my machine can handle most graphics. Graphics aren't a huge deal to me, so long as the gameplay is good.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

i've been playing Silk Road Online (Oasis Server).

It is VERY good... item duping is a non-issue (that i know of). Customer support is obviously spotty... being that the game is korean..... but it is still very fun

You can PVP from lvl 10-on..> (if you wear an army color)... but you can't do random PVP till lvl 20.

How is the PvP?

And, how slow is the levelling?

Thanks mate :)

Think about Guild Wars Factions? There are two new classes that no one is really good at yet.

Seems to fit your criteria.

Eve online has about the best pvp you may want, and theres a couple good guys from ocf playing it. Pick up the 14 day free trial at eve-online.com. It's a spacegame, you're the pilot of a spaceship and you will develop your character to use more advanced (not neccesarily larger!) ships and equipment (missiles / guns / lasers / jamming equipment - you name it!). You can fight for yourself, for a corporation, or just do missions for agents. One of the best things is that the whole game universe is connected, no instancing or separate servers, everyone is in the same universe. The level system is also very sophisticated with an insane amount of different skills you can learn, not by performing a single task a bazillion times but by actually buying and training the skill on your character. There is also good protection from older players, they can't noob farm you at some base point, CONCORD (galaxy police, operates in safezones) is your friend!

- Excellent customer support (they usually reply within a couple hours). Zero cheaters and item duping.
- Uses very little net connection. (doesnt require a kickass pc either)
- No instancing or grinding.
- It's good fun doing mining ops and missions or deadspace complexes with teammates.

I dont have any specific games to suggest, but what I'd do is just go download the trials of a bunch of these MMOs then you can try them for yourself! eve online has a 14 day trial, same with WOW, and pretty much every other subscription based MMO (which does not include GW).

Cool, some good suggestions here :)

I gave up on SilkRoad - too many lag issues for my current interent service... :(

Eve Online sounds promising.... I have heard good things about this game before.

A few questions about it, if I may :)

Is there a clan/guild system in place, in Eve?

How "old" (how mature) is the game world?

How difficult and time consuming is it to get established in this game, assuming that I have the time to dedicate many night-time hours to it in the beginning, to get myself started?

How important is team play in this game?

Are early character decisions reverseable (I know for a fact that my first player build will suck, and that I will want to revise it once I become more e><perienced with the game world and PvP dynamic :)) ?

How densely populated is the game world?

How much skill is involved in playing this game, and of what nature? Good keystroke de><terity? Good strategizing in combat, and in the design of your character build? Good team coordination?

Sorry, my "><" key is broken ;)

Thanks again guys :). I'm going to start downloading the Eve trial right now, I'll check it out tonight :). If I like it, I won't be a newb for long (hardcore gamer right here - when I get into a game I pick it apart and try to master it) :D

You have corporations that focus on certain things, mining, hunting, pvp, there's a corp for everything and you can start your own if you like.

Many of the players are 18+ and always civil and usually nice. If someone smacktalks to you you can report them and CCP will warn them. The game started back in 2003 and since then has grown alot (they keep adding new modules, ships and solarsystems with large updates).

You can have fun from the first moment. As your character evolves and you improve your ship and equipment, you can take on rougher missions which will be as fun as the easy ones were at the start (tip: do the full tutorial and take your time to learn all the buttons). Team play...depends.

If you want to tackle a lvl 4 or (coming in the next patch) lvl 5 mission, you will need some good organised teamwork. (shupport ships, shield and armour repairers, drone deployers..etc). When you make your character you define only a small part of it (ask help before you do so!), you can later on perfect and change it.

The universe consists of a core area (usually called the citadel or 'safespace') in which all the newbies start, and once you are more experienced you can go out into lowsec space where there is less police and more pvp and tougher pirates. It can be very busy in the citadel (several 100 players in the same solar system), but in systems far out you can travel for long times and not meet anyone.

Half the winning is done by researching the best options and equipping your ship with the right stuff..during a battle, learn to manouvre correctly (especially when flying small ships), use the right modules at the right time etc.

Hehhehe, thanks Sjaak and Enabling :D

Sjaak, is it OK if I PM you later on tonight, to grill you a bit before I make my "character"? :D

I want to make sure I get it right the first time, if possible :)

Sounds like a sweet game. I found a friend of a friend on X-Fire who was playing it, and asked them some more questions, looks like a game I would like to try out :)

Lemings, looks quite interesting... I might take a look at this one when it is released :)

WoW basically goes against everthing on your list. But it's so damn fun so I recommend trying it out anyway. :D

except for the fact that it takes so long to lvl, grinding is horrible in that game./

Eve definitely looks like the game for me - the more I read about it, the more I can't wait to start playing :D

I was a big fan of Master of Orion II back in the day... this game looks somewhat similar but with a hundred times more complexities.

I'm downloading the client now.... at 5 kbs.
