I have Windows XP Home SP2

For some reason, when I run Windows Update, and box comes up saying "Windows update has been disabled by your system Administrator"
When I go into the Windows Update settings, all the options are greyed out, I cant select ANYTHING

Any ideas why? something in the registry?

Cause the service maybe to Disable right click on My Computer >> Select Manage >> Scrool down to Services & Application >> Select Services >> Make Sure Automatic Updates is set to Auto.

Also make sure Background Intel Transfer is set to Manual & Crytographic Services is set to automatic. These will make sure Windows Update will work perfectly. You should be able to set it to Notify or whatever option you wish Control panel.

In addition to Know Nuttin's MSKB link, here's a few more for you to read...

... for the last two links, you'll need to be running IE as your browser.
