Unlocking Athlon

Ive always overclocked with locked Pentium Processors and so i know very little about upping the multiplyer... is that bad to do to your cpu?? if i do unlock my athlon and increase the multiplyer a little will my chip run hotter?? what is a good fan i can get for this cpu, i currently have an orb on it. Also by increasing the multiplyer will i have to increase vcore??

If you increase the multiplier, the FSB does not have to change and you won't be running anything out of spec except the processor. Your chip will still run hotter, so I would get better cooling. I've had luck going to www.leufkentechnologies.com for cooling solutions, both Intel and AMD. Pelts, water kits, and straight HSF stuff. You may have to raise the Vcore depending on how high you want to go.
