Okay this is kind of hard to explain, but I'll attempt it. My computer sounds like a normal PC most of the time except when I play BF2. There is a weird faint sqeaky noise that comes from somewhere in the vicinity of my processor when I play. It's barely audible, but it annoys the crap outta me. I have unplugged all system fans one by one during this occurence even the chipset fan. The problem still persists. The main culprit I am looking at is the motherboard. What on the motherboard could be making a noise like this?

It doesn't happen as soon as I start BF2. I have to start the game, join a game, load the map and then at the spawn screen the noise starts. It continues until I load back into the game menu or close BF2.

It does sound like a squeaky fan imo, but it can't bee since I've unplugged each fan one by one. Aslo I don't think a fan would immediately start at exact moment I enter a game and end when I leave.

Any tips to help with my investigation? Any advice? Any similar experiences?

My guess would be coil whine which that is no known cure(as far as I know). Google it to learn more.

It's like a chirping noise. I am reading up on a few thing so it seems a new motherboard is in order.

Possible PSU issue, but the PCP&C in your sig should be solid...

I've heard of the PSU also making this noise, but It's definetly coming from the motherboard. With my case the PSU is partitioned seperately and I would hear the noise in the PSU compartment, but it's coming form the processor socket area of the motherboard.

Normally (i think) the high pitched noise (electrical noise) is from power problems. My old PSU did it every time i moved my mouse (and the light lit up on the bottom), or if i scrolled, or even if numlock was on. My fortron 530 doesn't. I wouldn't change motherboards JUST for that noise. I'd just try and get used to it.
