Hey guys, i have a sony handycam, and when i wanted to import the files from teh camera to disk, i get a .Dat File.

I can play the .DAT using windows media player, and the picture shows up and everything.

Just When i want to put the .Dat file into Vegas 6, it wont allow me becuase it doesnt recognize that format.

Can anyone link me to a good converter?

Thanks,

Perhaps you could post what you did, so the next time somebody comes along asking the same question, they can try what you did.

Oops, sorry i was in a hurry.

Well i just used the capture video method from Vegas itself.

Hope this helps others.

.DAT is used by SVCDs, and since this is a video file (playable by WMP no less), I'd bet that the file you got is similar. Another option then might be to try importing it into something like TMPGEnc, and dealing with it there.
