Well summer is just around the corner and I'm drawing the sketches for my new box. So far I'm considering the design of having the fans go from bottom to top. This will be a custom box, probably square design with air coming up through the bottom and out through the top. My main question is whether it would be safe to have the PSU facing the top of the case so that the air is blowing out the top of the case instead of it blowing out the side? My goal is to keep the temps inside the case as close to the ambient temp outside the case as possible.

Also, if I have two 120mm fans blowing air out the top of the case is it essential to have two 120mm fans pulling air into the case from the bottom? Again, the goal is the have the temp inside the case to be as close to ambient temp outside the case as possible. Any ideas of insights are most welcome. Thanks.

It's definitely safe to have the PSU facing the top of the case however your cord would be poping out of the top.

If your goal is to keep the temps inside the case as close to the ambient temp outside the case as possible, there are plenty of cases that can do that without doing a custom case (that is unless you want to do a custom case for fun).

no reason why the psu wouldn't work as such.

Yes, the case will be custom just because I haven't built one in a long time. Thanks for the info guys..... I might even do a project log. Now I just need to see how much the materials will cost. :D
