and dont say " measure it with a termal probe because i dont have one"

If either one is correct, it's almost definitely speedfan. Unless you have some extreme cooling.

i was thinking easy tune was right because it is the rogram that came with mt mobo

Well it's a Prescott-2M core at 3.8 GHz.. at full load 43C is highly unlikely unless - like I said - you've got some extreme cooling going on there.

I have to agree with Tserrof.

that was only load for a few mins. i can get 51 full load if i really want to :) running 2 instances of prime 95 for an hour with max heat settings

Well there's only one way to solve this debate for sure.. ;)

most likely, neither one is "right"

the sensors aren't perfect, some boards read wrong +-10c!

the only realy way to tell is with say a digital thermometer.

but really, you just need to use the readings as a good baseline. they can be useful even if not 100% accurate. the idle temps reported and the gap between idle and load is very significant.

play cs:s? be on the lookout for toyishONE!

I think I've seen you on dust2 before.

Definitely speedfan. The motherboard manufacturer wants you to think your cpu is cooler than it is, that way they get less "OMG MY CPU IS LIEK SO HOT, WAHAT DO I DOOO CAUSE IM A NOOB!!@@L#!#$!$!41414111?" emails.

i'm runing a prescott 640 at 3.8. my temps are close to that on every program i get.

after a few minutes of p95.

i use speedfan as reference.

edit: with a scythe mine.

I have just recently overclocked my p4 3.2 presscott to 3.8 stable thing is i only have air cooling and after doing a few hours prime it makes it to about 41'c..does that sound right or is my mobo mir reading the temps??

Speedfan is a great program...Have found it to be very accurate.
Regardless of the program, they all read the same value from the same ADC (Analog to Digital Converter), so programs should be within 1 bit.

Theres not way that my cpu is almost 60 degrees with 3 120mm fans sucking and blowing air right on and around the cpu, a case blowhole, AND a Big Typhoon...
