Hi, I'm really new and was wondering if I need to "burn in" my AMD T-BIRD 1.2Ghz chip that I installed just yesterday.
Should I and how would I do such a thing here at home?

you don't need to burn it in at all, should be fine just the way it is. The only time you would need to stress test a system is if you changed the settings in bios and wanted a stability reference. Best way would be to d/l a program called Prime95 and run it looping. anyhow, another purpose for running a system at high load for extended periods would be to get the thermal transfer material to change phase, some do that. Otherwise, there's no moving parts or anything in there, so no need to "break it in" you may notice temperature fluctuations at first, as the core melts some of the wax off of it and the thermal material loosens up a little bit and oozes out what is not necessary to be in there.
whoa.....what is this wax stuff? We have this in the cpu core?? I thought it was all solid-state stuff...

get a program called SANDRA 2001 and run the burn in wizard 50 times running your cpu at 100 %. this will do great..
