set it back at default and try it again, you may have to clear cmos also. How to do this I don't know- never had a compaq.

You may not be able to overclock that pc: oem systems generally do not oc well.

Good luck though!

Hmmm .. Will it show again on default? Are you changing the right jumpers?

Don't try changing the multiplier .. Only FSB (Front Side Bus) since the multipliers are locked.. Monitor Temperatures at all time.

i tried to change the multiplyer. how would i oc the fsb. i read everything on my system and found nothing. any ideas. i dont even know where to oc the fsb normally. so if u can tell me this i would be happy. i need at least 450 mhz to run a ghost recon smoothly

Your Compaq most likely Bottlenecked meaning you can't O.C. it. Some rigs will O.C. while others won't. Sorry to say but I don't think your Compaq will O.C. Compaq`s are known for using hodge podge stuff in their puters.

Seems like your out of luck buddy.. Sorry :/

I used to use a Deskpro EN from Compaq. No Compaq will overclock. The jumpers are to tell the Compaq BIOS what CPU you are using. There is no way to actually change the FSB, voltage, etc, unless you change the CPU. No overclocking is possible on any Compaq system. Sorry. If you want REALLY good computers, go to www.monsterboxpc.com . they kick ass.

Hmm are you sure? I believe some have overclocked with SoftFSB and CPUFSB.

I think the general point is that oem systems are harder to oc, and frequently there is no way to do so in hardware or bios.

SoftFSB et al can do it in some cases, if the chipsets used are supported though (I have not had any luck with them though:( )

But since I build all my own, the hardware usually can do it!
