yeah yeah I know, the answer is obvious - the 8045...BUT....

my motherboard (Giga-Byte GA-7DXR) is listed in the unsupported motherboards list, not exactly unsupported but....:

paste from Alpha's website:
NOTE: The PAL8045 will fit the 7DXR board without modification:). However:(, it will contact one of the board's capacitors, POSSIBLY damaging it. Rounding an edge of the base with a DREMEL or other tool could be a possible solution. This would, however, make you heat sink non-returnable. Due to these issues, we consider the use of the PAL8045 on this board a "Use at your own risk application."Pleas see Photo for reference.

end paste from Alpha's website.

What would you get, if you were instead of me ?

Thanks in advance,
Jamguy

the 8045, a little sanding with a dremel is easy, pluss a heatsink isnt a highly technocal peice of equipment, but at worst if you screw up youve got a lap job on your handsw...

I would get it just do a good job with the lapping ... Just be caution, that it doesn't come in contact with the capcitors..
