View Full Version : Duron850 ANCA
I ordered a Duron850 AKCA from Newegg and they sent me an 850 ANCA "F"wk 19.I checked the cpu database but they only had one listed @ 956 which I can get easy with my 750.Does anyone know what this chip is capable of?I'm stuck because it will end up costing the same in shipping by the time I return this one and pay for the shipping on the "right" one. That kind of stinks because I payed an extra $6 to get that stepping and it is their fault I got the wrong one.I already got an RMA# on it but am real curious as to what it will do and It's a waste of money to ship it back if this chip will achieve a good OC.I guess I can try it and clean it real good after all it is their mistake at my expense.d

I had to RMA a mobo to newegg.... it took a while to get a replacement (about a week and a half). I'd say just keep the chip. Steppings are not so important with Durons. I'd just call and ask them to put credit back on your card for the difference in price between the "choice stepping" price and the normal, lower price. Durons are so expendable anyway....
Moral is, get the cash difference back, and save the money you would have spent shipping the chip back and put it into a piggy bank labeled "TBird". :)

Sounds about the right thing to do.I got it to use for testing my water-coling setup as not to ruin any of my other more exspensive chips.Oh Sickboy, if I buy one more T-Bird or Duron for that matter my fiancee will have my head, she already thinks that all 7 of my chips are really only 3 computers.

I just got a Duron 750 with the ANCA stepping and it has OC'd very well. I used a ECS K7S5A mobo with the OC BIOS to allow FSB adjustments.
But, I have been able to get it from 750 to 1035 without a problem. I did close the L7s to get vCore to 1.85, but that's it. Unfortunately, the next FSB jump is up to 150 and that is not doable for something in my system. It will post, but that's it. That mobo does not allow for any multiplier adjustments, so I can't comment on that.
Overall the stepping seems very good. BTW, I got mine at Newegg.com as well, but I didn't order any particular stepping.
On a side note, do you have any interest in putting those machines to good use Folding ?
If so, hit the link in my sig, or better yet, stop by the Folding Forum here.
