The game doesn't look like anything special, BUT...
Check out the head on collision where the driver flies out the back window after being hit. NOW that is next gen!!
Its the littlke things in life that make me happy and knocking people clean out of their cars when I hit them just makes my heart smile:D

I have been watching Saint Row gameplay vids for past few days now and I can say that I'm overly impressed!!!!
Just the amount of customization, graphics, physics, GTA attributes, promising online play where finally we will be able to form gangs and go against each other (something that I always wanted to do in GTA). Just imagine doing a drive-by with your friends on opposing team, muuuwhahahhaha :drool:
Overall a very impressive game and I'm hearing that demo should be available on marketplace very soon if it's not out yet.
GTA clones.. *sigh*
Will they ever stop making these?
The video didn't really impressed me much. It looked like a GTA with better graphics.
I want the next GTA to have some awesome physics in there. Like crumble zones on cars, better ragdoll effects, and debris going everywhere if you crash. I want to drop bricks on people's head from a 10 story building. :D

Someone correct me if I'm exaggerating, but this game is exactly like GTA down to the last detail (except it has better visuals and other elements).
After watching all those gameplay vids, to me it seemed like I was watching someone play GTA.
This game has all what you described and by the way GTA IV is coming to Xbox360 first :eek:

You haven't seen the video where the main character blows a car blows up from a distance and debris flies all over, a large piece of which strike the main character killing him.
The cars blowing up into pieces is in there.

What is the deal with the 1 line posts (1.5 in this case) that pretty much = I don't like this genre? Atleast give some reasons, elaborate or something.
Seriously, "I don't like X" = 0/nothing/zilch unless there is some elaboration, reasoning or intelligent thought.
I don't mind the genre, but they're just making the same exact game over and over.. and over. It's beginning to get as bad as those football games that are the same exact thing with better graphics.

lmao, people complaining about gta clones make me laugh... Why not complain about the number of WWII clones?
Though Saint's Row is very similar to GTA, the graphics look pretty good and I'm always down for some new content. Maybe they'll leave in their hot cocoa mod ;)

Yeah, it looks very much the same and that is why I am excited to get updated GTA type play (the GTA engine is hidiously old), but not too excited because it very well may not add anything other than updated engine to the genre.
Who knows, it could be great if they build on the genre or more likely it could just be GTA:SA with an updated engine and mediocre (sp?) gameplay.
This thread was more of a joke than anything because I think its really, really cool to have bodies flying out of vehicles in the crashes vs. people being stuck to there seats, but I'm keeping an eye on this one since I enjoyed SA so much.
IMO, this genre is still very raw and there is a ton of potential, its just going to take someone with a little vision.

Because that would be pretty hypocritical to acuse someone of playing or liking a game thats similar to an existing franchise (like GTA) while your taking a stick and beating the biggest dead horse in the history of gaming.

I never "accused" anyone of liking a game (that would just be dumb..). I said that I'm tired of game developers creating GTA clones over and over. Yes I have played WWII games, and yes I want them to stop making them too if they have nothing original to add to the games other than better graphics. And, since you brought it up, although it's set in WWII times, BF1942 is a very original game, which is why I recommended it in the first place.
And by the way, exactly how many GTA clones are out there right now?
