1) I used a pencil and joined the bridges. But how do I know if I can overclock the cpu then? I could change the speed in the bios!
2) I bought a 850. Yet in the bios it's only at 500! Why is it like this? When I change it, my comp just can't boot up. The light on the monitor changes orage with a black screen and it stays that way.
3) Sometimes when I turn on my com, there's no screen at all! It's just plain black. I tested my graphics card, monitor and every other hardware but there are no problems.
SORRY FOR THE BAD ENGLISH!!!!!
When you changed it in the BIOS to 850, what did you change? Did you set it at 100 FSB and 8.5 multiplier? Or is it one of those that you just select the CPU clock speed?
Give a little more info about your system so we know better what your situation is. That way if someone has a similar mobo and cpu, they can tell you if they had a similar problem and how they went about it.

Mobo: KT7A-RAID
CPU: Duron 850
Power supply: 350W
ON the start up it's written Duron 850 100FSB * 8.5 mutiplier
But in the bios it's written 500! 100*5
I normally turn on my machine the first time, but it never works. I could hear the fans turning but there's no beep and no screen.
I turn it off and pull out the plug and wait for 10 sec.
Then I plug the plug back in and turn the machine on again.
It works for some reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hear the beep and the black dos startup screen appears.
THIS MAY SOUND WIERD BUT IT'S THE TRUTH. I MADE NONE OF THIS UP!!!
Maybe the pencil trick isnt working right. Try it again & make sure you get it clean or use a conductive ink pen. The KT7A-RAID, at least mine, likes a strong signal thru the L1 bridges so the pencil trick isnt the best choice for the job. I use to get the same problem. My BIOS read my chip at 750MHz instead of 1.1GHz with the pencil trick. Make a sig of your rig by clicking on user cp o you dont have to type it everytime someone asks "What are you running?":D

Well, the pencil trick is the easiest and most convenient way.
What do you mean by a conductive pen?

i haven't unlocked my multiplier, but i know what you are talking about. every time i reset my cmos upon boot the boot screen says "900mhz (100x9)", even though it is a 1.2ghz chip, and when i go into the bios, it says 500mhz (100x5), similar to yours. i just had to set it though, and i had no problems. it could be something with the abit boards, and it may just not like the unlock so you can't change it like i could. hope it helps!

What do you mean by a conductive pen? Read this article (http://www.overclockers.com/tips402/) from the main page & the a conductive ink pen can be found here (http://www.chemtronics.com/catalog/catalog.cgi?action=list_products&category=7#20140). I got the CW2200MTP.

Thanks for all the help
But I still have the same problem when starting up the machine (As written in my original post previously)
Anyone have any ideas or advice?
BTW: When I go into the bios and come out again. The screen stays black again. THis happens even if I alter anything in the bios
