View Full Version : Bent 1900 crossfire pins
I must be the only one in the world dumb enough to be capable of this but maybe someone else has done similar. Completely bent the pins as shown when my hand slipped with the connector. I've tried using small screwdrivers, a razor and a needle to try and align them with slight success(they were a lot worse than this before) I have a feeling there's a better way to do this. TIA for any suggestions

WOW .... that sucks BAD!!
(and i know you did that while testing the master in the lower slot for ... ME... :()
not @ home so i cant see it for myself (on My Master) ....
side of a Bank card (or CC) ? some type of "hard" plastic...
pen cap / lid ... toothpick.... paper-clip .... its hard to get perspective (even with your finger in the shot) on just how small these are....
dont people use mechanical pencils to bend back CPU pins (NO led ... use point as a tube to slip over the pin)
PS i almost never take off the "dual-dongle thingie" from my master card, even if you run it by its self, you can just plug the monitor into the "OUT" cable from that thing...
still throwing out ideas.... eye-glass repair screwdriver... cold soldering iron tip... "plastic" thumb-tack...plastic silver-ware (fork?) ....

say it isn't so........ :bang head
Tried all sorts of things and managed to find a solution. It's some sort of a craft knife. I was able to mess with the pins a bit with the other stuff but needed something to keep the buggers in place...they kept springing out. Took a surprising amount of force to "snap" them back where they belong.
Good as new...or close enough

Really the only reason I posted is cause I knew the second I did, I'd figure something out. :p
Big thanks again Ric(k)(h) for being my 24/7 Merom/Crossfire help hotline. :p I'm very grateful for all your help so far and I'm sure I'll be bombarding you with questions as soon you get home. :D

PS G-man, i picked up that 2nd PSU and a 15w iron along with de-soldering braid and "sucker" ...when i have the time im GOING TO learn to volt-mod!!!!
now i just need some pot ... o wait, i got that, its potS i need :p

I'd suggest some neosporin for that cut to help it heal... then take a breath and relax; its all fixed now!! :D
Hehe thanks...looking at my hand right now, that's actually an ancient scar. Don't feel like doing anything computer related for a bit heh.
@ JC that's wonderful to hear. 15w is very safe, and desoldering braid is literally like an eraser for any mistakes you make. Seeing how capable you are with everything else I'm sure you'll have np. Vmodding is very safe when you've got the right tools on hand. Mouser is my favorite. They charge a bit more than some other places but deliver FAST. It's just a matter of pennies and nickels really.
And just to clarify, I don't seem to even be able to get the cards to POST with the mastercard in the second slot. It seems like doing it the "proper" way is necessary. :-/ Already armed and ready with the dll. :p
