I`ve be looking at cooling my case for a while now and unsure of which to use. Just fixed voltage switching (7v or 12v) or Varible voltage (1.25-11.75v) . Personnally I dont see the point in the varible, but can anyone give a reason why it is better?

My system is T-Bird900Mhz, Abit KT7A M/Board, 384MbPC133 HyperTec RAM, 20Gb Hard Drive, Geforce2MX32Mb, MaxiMuse Sound Card. Cooling at the mo is 1* 80mm YS-Tech fan cooling the chip, 2* 120mm YS-Tech fans Cooling the case (1 in the roof and 1 in the front). On 12v The fans are loud, ok for gaming but does your head in for work! Sounds like a Hoover!

you would be suprised what quality parts are hanging around in there. I over spent on all the components and had no money left for my case

no doubt! as long as it works the way you want it to......

Variable is better if you want to fine tune the airflow vs. noise, or if you're using a pulse width or linear fan controller hooked up to a thermistor. If you just switch between 7 and 12 you might not find a sweet spot for max airflow and least noise.
