Ok this whole tec thing is completely new to me. I bought a 40mm 85w tec to play around with, and before I plugged it in I realised I had no idea which side was hot and which is cold. Is there anyway to determine this easily?

Please be gentle on t3h noob.

Yeah I figured it out. Alot less power than I thought, I thought it would burn itself out right away without an hsf on it. Mmmmmm.... Freezer 64 + TEC = cold beverages.

That is a really small tec! I have seen several ways to find what side is hot and cold! One way is plug it in for just a second! While holding it between your finger and thumb! That is how I did my 226 and let me tell you it gets really hot really quick!! :) The second way I have heard and I think would be the best if it works (I have not tried) use an AA battery and put the wires on it!
