Hi,
I have a cel2 633 running on a CUSL2-C @1016. I don't know why, but on my P3B-F were 1045 no prob, but anyway.

What you need to know ....
I need my pc also for (live-)capturing in mpeg4. When I had gone mad with the A7V I changed to Intel again, but well, I lost performance. So I'm still waiting for a stable AMD chipset (maybe the KT266A) on my dream-board (NO AC97, ....) ;-)

So what I need to know is - would there be a chance to get full screen divX capturing (Full PAL 720x568) by changing to a cel2 800 @150 FSB?

The problem: I don't want to affort too much money - eventually a PIII700(100FSB) could be bought to the same price ....

My case:
CS-601, CUSL2-C, miroPCTVpro, Elsa X², MicrolinkISDN, Terratech XLeratePRO, 128MB Wichman WorkX 133-CL2, 128MB Infineon/Infineon 133-CL2
Alpha PAL6035 with ASII, Enermax 431watts

If possible, get the P3 (700 could make 933 if you get a cC0) for the added L2 cache... the performance bump with the increased cache is more important in that type of work than raw mhz IMHO.

cD0 for a 800 would be hard to target.. Most likely you'll be getting cC0.

Celeron should be a good quick upgrade, i just went from 433@540 to my new celeron 1Ghz. Very noticable change, and I put up $70 total it think. Didn't OC it yet though, my p4 heatsink I use has to be modded alittle and I don't really want to break out the peltier just yet if I dont have to.(I only have the p4 sink, peltier setup for overclockable heatsinks)

If I were you I would concider a celeron 800-900 series, they start @ $40 on pricewatch, and OC great from what I hear.

... The Peltiers will do best if it was on h2o... That or take the risk of condenstation with the P4 :)

Yeah, shoot me for this, but I would think that if you can afford the extra bucks you are really going to want to look at a P4. If not that, A tualatin Celey will be the way to go. You should be able to get it 1.5-1.6. If not either of those, get a KT133a board(its stable) and a 1.2-1.4 Athlon. That will give you the best performance.

So you guys,

I thought of saving money by buying a cheap CPU, because I want to get a KT266A soon.
It seems as a 8KHA+ is on it's way now, so well, maybe my CUSL2-C with cel2633@1045 goes for sale .... ;-)
But it's that stable comparing to the KT133 ......
We'll see ;-)
