hello, I just ordered a Asus P5p800PE motherboard with the pentium D 940

Currently on a gigabyte SINXP1394 mobo via pentium 4 2.66ghz 533mhz northwood

going from a 2.66ghz 533mhzfsb single core ==> 3.20ghz 800mhzfsb DUal Core

540mhz increase in Speed, 267mhz increase in QFSB, Dual core vs Single.

multi-tasking should be much smoother

should be, estimate about 75% increase in speed?

I mean seriously takes like 2 minutes to load microsoft word!!! exagerating. actually 20 seconds to open........

currently 77 processes. I multi-task ALOT as you can see. I don't even have a anti-virus program cuz it would kill the system so bad!!!

77 processes is too much, even for an avid multitasker.

you don't have AV, are you sure none of your running processes are viruses?

i would suggest a clean install of windows when you build, otherwise your new rig will probably feel bloated.

depending on what you do, you could see a huge increase. especially forx example, gaming and doing other stuff at the same time. you should be able to get an easy OC to 4ghz.

GL, let us know how you make out!

If you could I would cancel that mobo, and save your money until you can afford a PCI-E card and some DDR2 so you can get a P5WD2.

I owned the P5P800-SE with a 805D and it was terrible, the mobo droops heavily and the mosfets get WAY to hot with a dual-core CPU. I had copper sinks on the mosfets with active cooling and it still discolored the PCB (on the backside) from too much heat.

I managed to return the Motherboard and am looking for a P5WD2-Premium right now. I suggest you perhaps do the same.
