I’ve seen the prices for the new Xeons and they are pretty keen ($209 - $851), but I can’t tell if they support Dual Processors or not! (I know they’re dual core).
The prices seem too low for DP but then again Opteron dual-core 2xx series start at $316, so you never know!
The 5110 is a 1.6 GHz 1066 FSB part, so should overclock well as Woodcrest is designed for 1333 FSB. They all seem to have 4 MB L2 cache.
Does anyone know what chipsets support these CPUs?

There is only one dual core Xenon that I know of, and last time I checked its a little over $1K each.
but they are multi-processor able (thats what Xenons are for :) )
Opty 2XX and 8XX are 2 and 4 processor capable as such and 265+ and 865+ are dual core.
Woodcrests will be dual core, and SMP capable.. I dont know what chipset yet, or socket for that matter.

I just checked, Woodcrest is going to be the Xeon 5100 series and as you say will support 2P; the Xeon 7000 series supports 4P+
I mistook the difference between the current Xeon and Xeon MP as being the same as between Opteron 1xx and 2/8xx, when it’s actually more like 2xx versus 8xx.
This is a hell of a large price drop for these dual-core 2P CPUs versus the current versions! The 1.6 Woodcrest is cheaper than the 1.67 Core Duo (Yonah); I think that’s why I figured that they might be 1P.
BTW, they use LGA-771.

I wonder when and how much retails board will be for these. I'm sure you'd have to get ECC ram, but if you could do some O'Cing, a dual setup of the woodcrest would be sick! :)

yeah, I read Xbits' article yesterday, and first on my mine is, man, this thing is CHEAP (in a SMP speaking)!!
IF board isn't too much and could o/c, I'm sure I'll get a couple (2 board, 4 cpus, please ;) ) when it's out!!

They’re launched in June, although availability may well be tight at retail. The CPU’s seem incredibly cheap, the downside may well be the fact that the motherboards may need FB-DIMMs which are rare and expensive. Does anyone know the facts on this?

See above regarding RAM. The fact that the 1.6 & 1.86 versions run a FSB of 1066 versus the 1333 of the other chips augers well from them in the overlocking stakes. I’m not sure what chipsets will support these and how easy it is to overclock a buss beyond 1333!

sounds like another pin mod to 1333fsb just like some of the 400/533mhz xeons.

yup, I'm just hoping someone will figure out the pin so we could at least pinmod it to 1333fsb just like the Dothan IF we don't have a o/c'able board.
