I have recently aquired the X800XL PCI-E. From what I read so far they are poor overclockers. I dont mind that at this time as I'm trying to avoid spending big bucks on a new top of the line card. I already have a X1600Pro card that Im not really thrilled about anyway. Being more or less FREE I decided to go after the X800XL. Its not delivered yet but I have a few questions about it.

1. Does it require a molexz connection from the PSU?
2. Will it out perform my current X1600Pro?
3. How does the X800XL compare to the X800XT(as in whats the difference between them)?

I know these may seem basic questions but with all the different model numbers etc. It's hard to try and judge performance expectations from the model numbers. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thank You

1) yes (note that some pcie x800xl's don't)
2) yes
3) the xt is a tad bit faster on stock, but you can overclock the hell out of the xt, but look at my sig and u can see that the xl can't overclock much

AWESOME!!!!!! To me the main idea is that it out perfroms my current card. By how much I'll see when it arrives. Im a bit concerned as it seems from the pics ofthe card its a PowerCooler. I havent hear a whole lot of good things about them. But FREE is FREE. And if it at least beats My current stuff Im tickled PINK!!! LOL

checking the specs it seems the XL has 16 pipes verses 12 on the x1600. Also the XL has 256-bit memory bus as opposed to 128 bits. Should see a NICE boost Im hoping.

A quick final note::: The new card is in!! Benchmarks climbed over 4000 points. . . for FREE Im happy. Just one last question...

Any good mods for this card?

Looks to me like its just an underclocked XT. THX again

One difference with your x1600, is that it supports SM3, where as the X800XL doesnt. But being a lower end card, the X1600 isnt as powerful so it doesnt do much good with SM3. My X800XL will only OC about 20mhz from stock, then it hard locks. I am happy with the stock performance though.

There is a volt mod you can do but other then that there isn't anything you can do.
Grrr.... I've lost the link, must have deleted it by mistake so you'll have to google for it.
