is there a way to refresh the auto update to check microsoft for latest updates ?? i turned it off then back on and seems to be that it has it already stored.. i would like to know for sure if its checking the site each time i turn it off then on ..

Just check the windows update website. If there are any updates you need it will say right there. Otherwise you can schedule automatic updates to download/install on a daily basis.

uninstall an update and then turn it off and on and see what it does...
