I cant believe it, just when I thought that my card was running near its max @ 200core / 460mem, I get a little note in the mail from hercules saying thankyou for registering and here is your ticket to 500MHz+ with the ram on the prophet 3 Ti 200. They garunteed it for me, sweet!
So, without a problem, I downloaded the latest nVidia drivers for XP then cranked up the Ti 200 to 500MHz, worked flawlessly!
Then, I decided to go as high as it could possibly get, @amn, a 533MHz Ram Clock Speed!, and the GPU is @ 233MHz now!,
final thoughts,
Life is good!:D

P.S, this setting of 233MHz Core speed and 533MHz Ram was hardware right out of the box and the drivers were the latest XP drivers from www.nvidia.com.

That's good to hear, considering the card runs for $200. Wait a minute, that's Ti 200 in general. Your card, being a Hercules was what, $300?
I found a Gainward GF3 Ti200 with memory that runs at 450MHz, so I'll probably go with that. $190 is a convincing element too.

nice
so imagine what you can do with a gf3 original....the abit gf3 can get memory stable at 555 or something around there with a 250 core or so

$229.99 US
$334.99 CAN
GeForce 3 is ok but the price is still rediculous. And I higherly doubt that the old GeForce 3 can hit 250MHz and not have somekind of an Artifact!. And not every g3 org will hit 250mhz unlike most newer ti's hitting at least 225MHz min.
Plus the Hercules TI200/Ti500 has a sixth gen TV-Out which gives HD-TV like signal out with only analog signal! Big screen fun!

Bah! 2D performance who cares. 350MHz RAMDAC is all that matters there, I guess you're just living up to your forum name eh?

well i am a funny man, but if i were to shell out 300+ bucks on a video card i surely wouldnt want a fuzzy screen like i do with my Geforce2Pro.....300$ to me isnt funny....

when i look at my desktop, i dont really notice it anymore, but when i first swapped my rage fury pro for my Geforce2 everything looked a bit blurry, since then however i did swap for a 17" monitor and played with refresh rate, so it looks decent, but not nearly as good as it did with my old card on my Trinitron....

Yeah, i have found that playing with the refresh rate and all the monitor options in powerstrip, you can improve quality. I have a geforce and i think I am gonna try out a radeon of some sort. I think it would be nice to have better 2d.

nick_cw,
The Hercules card comes with 400MHz memory @ defualt but is certified to run @ 500MHz by Hercules! + 1024x768 TV-Out progressive scan really kicks some butt when playing on a big screen tv!!!!!

GF2s are plagued by "fuzzy" screens at 1600x1200. Not fuzzy, but not nearly as crisp as it should be.
My GF2 Ultra is like that. It's an Elsa if that matters. I also owned an original Elsa Gladiac and it was great as this card is, only complaints I have is a) Tribes 2 could run better at 1600x1200. and b) blurry screen at 1600x1200

I was thinking about the $200 Gainward Ti 200. You seem to be speaking of the original GF3. Do you think the Ti200 would have the same problem?

Even @ defualt clock speed, my GeForce 3 Ti 200 hits an average FPS of 60 in Quake3 and Tribes 2. Very impressive hardware.
With the titanium cores being newer, you can expect a little better quality in both 2D and 3D. Might I note that both Anandtech and Tom had an Ti 200 @ 200/460 and a GeForce 3 @ 200/460 and the GeForce 3 Ti 200 was 2% faster in everything on average. That goes to show you that they did a little tweaking in the core. Plus, some users are reporting 250MHz with there Ti 200 cards, IMPRESSIVE overclock! (75MHz).
Anyhow, the only reason, I'm not going higher than 233MHz is because the GPU on my card is getting way to hot! You cant put your finger on the back where the GPU sits, after a 10min game of Quake3. It would burn in seconds.

Sounds like a bit to hot for me....
Oh and Axia isn't the mem manufactured to go at 500 max cause its 4ns? Or is it faster?
