I have a friend with an older Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe he is trying to install a WD 10k rpm sata drive but cannot find the drivers for it. I have searched everywhere I can think of for them but with no luck. The ones on the Asus web site are 30mb's and won't fit on a floppy. I have also tried western digital's web site as well as nvidia's all with no joy.

You will have to get them from the chipset manufacturers website, which in this case I gather is nV.

Unfortunately, for some strange reason nV seems incapable of providing a simple floppy disk image to download (as all other chipset manufacturers do). But they've created this "helpful" guide: http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_28653.html

Hope that helps.

The drivers are from Silicon Image.

download the 30mB file from Asus

http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/ide/silicon/3114/Silicon_v1050.zip

Extract it (I use WinRar) to a folder

Where you see the files like Si3112r.inf and readme.txt, copy the files (not the folders) to a floppy (root, not in a folder). That's it.

When prompted during XP setup to press F6, do so, and use this disk.
