View Full Version : Where is the C1 CPU?
Intel announced the C1 stepping to replace the B1 versions of the Dual Core CPU. It's been a while, I ve looked everywhere for it but no success!
I m interested in the new D930 SL95X C1 stepping that supports Speedstep.
Has anybody the slightest information?
Thanks in advance guys!

I have no idea to be honest. I've been wondering the same thing myself.

It has been rumored that we will not see any C1 steppings in the retail channel. At best we can hope to get some by way of OEM.

thanks for the welcome guys :)
still haven't found a C-1. Will have to go for an AMD then :(
i m starting a netcafe in Athens, and power consumption is quite serious..

Dual-core for a netcafe?
how about something CHEAP! (well and less power consuming)

why not wait for conroe and get the cheaper ones? They use such little energy.

1.83 Conroe will be under $200 .. that's what I would recommend :>
but the netcafe (gaming mostly) opens in 2 weeks!
the D930 is 200euros here, same price as the A64 3500+ !
what he calls a netcafe is a club where all the kids go to spend their lunch money to play Counter-strike
we just call em Gaming clubs here
so he needs a powerfull and cheap(lol) PCs and ocking is not really an option
how about the D805? they are pretty damn nippy, dual core, and don't consume much electricity.
what GPU's are you planning for this lan cafe?
GPU's are Gainward 7900GT's, CPU dilemma is getting me nuts!
805 can't cost more than 100 euros, does not consume much power, and you can get reasonably good motherboards for them.

an 805 at stock speeds would not be a good choice for a gaming machine. i would rather have a stock 3500+.
I disagree, dual core makes it feel very responsive, and dual core drivers gives it a nice kick in games.
Plus, these chips so oc'able that he would easily just be able to go along all the computers, set them to 166mhz fsb and get hisself a nice little clock on that.

Yep no need to build a dual-core machine for playing counter-strike. It will not provide you any benefit and would not be as fast as a 3500+.
Just stick with the AMD rigs for pure gaming machines.

yes, dual core will make windows feel responsive, but CS and CSS are not coded one bit to take advantage of the second core. it would be exactly like gaming on a stock 2.66ghz p4 on a 533mhz bus. "dual core drivers" won't really give you much of a boost, if any at all.
i think that overclocking what could be 50+ machines is not worth the time or the effort, much less the power consumption and cooling cost.
even setting the bus to 166mhz will only give you 3.3ghz. a stock 3500+ will still beat it in games.

a cheap cpu would bottleneck teh 7900gt. Period. LOL

Stick with a single core A64/Opteron.

And how would CS come close to needing a 7900gt ;) (7600GS  LOL :p )
seriously.. if you need to open this thing before the later part of July and you will not be overclocking, go ahead and get the single core A64's or Opteron 1XX's, when I think of 805D and 930D power savings is FAR from my mind.
coresolo/duo's might do the trick (If you were overclocking) but the mobo is EXPENSIVE and a PIA to work with.
Well there are much nicer games they play here at the Game/net-cafes, and u d be suprised that majority of customers are 20+ here.
The big games they play here are: COD2, BF2, Lineage2, Oblivion, etc, CS is bit too old nowadays. And I think there is a patch already out there for COD2 that makes it to run better on dual cores. So if future is going there, should I go for a dual core?

How long will you be running this hardware?
Oblivion is  on hardware and CYRSIS is only going to get worse
If your going to have the same hardware for a couple of years I would say right now/no overclocking go Opterion dual core.

hmm. MAbye wait for Rev. G? Thats supposed to have super low power consumption x2s for AM2.

He said two weeks
Im thinking this is a SOL situation.. Id go ahead and get the cheapest single core A64/Opty based processors and go with it.
btw.. I like the business idea, Ive never heard of it. It might fly in an area like were I live (people dont have alot of $$$ to buy gaming rigs)
Do you supply the games?

930s or 3500+. Either is pretty good. I'm slightly leaning towards 930 since your not ocing.
do you think it's a wise idea to get half PC's with D930/i945 and the other half PC's A3500+/nF570 ?
I ll be able to share the RAM at least :)
Speaking of which, this is what I found for RAM.

What do you think?
Games I m looking from wholesalers.
Netcafes (gaming centers) are doing quite well in Greece right now and they are lots of fun to go play. It's amazing how ppl from all ages play and have such a good time alltogether :)
