View Full Version : Lil' bit-o luck
Thought I would report some good news (since this is an official "good week"). I was having trouble with one of my dual xeons only booting with one cpu detected. I fiddled around with it sunday and figured out that the vrm had gone bad (really, I have no idea how this could have happed...really). Well, I took it to work and we found a bad polly fuse, soldered on a new one and abracadabraprestochangeo its now booting with both cpus again. Not the fastest performer at 400mhz but I'm clad to have it back in the mix.

How much L2 on those xeons?
If I remember correctly 4 of them have 1meg and 3 of them have 512 (7 totoal).

I think those 512kb L2's are slowing you down. You should really put those under my name. HEHEHEHE. How do they crunch?

Referee makes a ruling - clean hit. O.K., touch gloves and let's 'get it on'.
I had a quad xeon netfinity server a while back. 4 700's with 1meg cache. They crunched faster than a 1GHz P3.
These PII400's are taking about 13-14 hours each under linux.
