I'm going to be networking 2 computers and will be using a Router. The three things I want to accomplish are...
1. Share cable internet access...
2. Play multiplayer games ....
3. Hide second pc from ISP
Is there anything special I have to do to accomplish any of the above?
and also is this all the hardware I need to do this??
1. Router
2. Two nics
3. Three cables
Any other helpful info. is appreciated .....................

A router will do it. Your ISP doesn't care about the second computer, They just will not support more then one computer on the line.
i have a linksys router
3 comps are hooked up to it on a DSL line
the Firewall on the router will prevent the ISP from seeing the other comps
what you want to do is run the RJ45 cable into the WAN port on
the router.
Then, put 1 nic card in each comp and connect it to the port on the router
next, set up router configurations
then go into network neighborhood and go to properties on TCP\IP protocol
manually type in your comp ip
like 192.168.1.101 for first comp
for second comp 192.168.1.102
you get the picture
make sure your netbios is on, and make sure ICS is not installed(internet connection sharing)
set your default gateway to like 192.168.1.50
set your DNS also
the default gateway and DNS aslo need to be set up in the router
and thats about it
and you can tell the router to automatically obtain a ip address
good luck
