View Full Version : anone reccomend the Voodoo 4 or 5?

im insearch of a new card, and i always wanted to get a Voodoo card (dont ask why, i guess the name is cool) would any of you give me any advice and the specs for those cards? and where can i get one for cheap!!

any help is greatly appriciated!!

Wouldn't recomemmend it .. Would recommend a GeForce 2 400 64mb..

i wouldnt recommend it either for under 80$ (read your other thread) a RadeonLE would definately be best bang for buck.....51$, should whoop any mx, and on par with GTS, KyroII, also much faster than Voodoo5 (unless playing Unreal Tourney), with better DVD and 2D quality...

Oh yea I forgot about the Radeon there.. hehe ..

Yep go with any GeForce 2 MX 400 or Raedon 32ddr LE..

I would recommend the Raedeon since its cheaper and is good, beats the MX in several things.

The Radeon LE would beat the Mx400 in most EVERYTHING.....except maybe 8bit color ;).....

I had a voodoo5 for a while. It was absolutley the best, smoothest picture when it was anti-aliased. Much smoother curves and sharper edges than my GTS at the same settings. If you like playing older ( 1year old?) games and you want AA then a V5 is a good, inexpensive choice.

I have run some bench marks wiht 3DMark2001. My Voodoo 4 was better than a GeForce 2 200MX and I would bet that a Voodoo 5 would be better than a Geforce 2 400mx

If you didn't it wouldn't be smart.

A Voodoo 5 isn't much slower in terms of FPS. But its MUCH faster and looks a whole lot better in FSAA.


But to buy new, I wouldn't, go Radeon. My buddy has a Voodoo 4 and its just too slow. Plus the Radeon looks better. The voodoo will be faster in FSAA though.
