I just got my new radeon, finally got it working after a bios flash and a windows reinstall:mad: , and the performace is kinda strange. In UT, with a modest overclock, it startes out at 105fps, at 1260x1024, and but as soon as i get into a fight it dropes below 20fps. I had this problem before and it was because my AGP was set to 1x. Not this time. I checked that, its at 4x. I used Radeon Tweaker, and enabled all of the recommenede options.

try clocking it at normal speeds, and disable AGP FastWrites and USWC cache in bios.....

I would try setting everything back to stock settings and run some tests from there.

Run different games, try 3dmark and try to isolate whether this only occurs with UT or with all 3D accelerated games. Try different drivers and see if anything changes.

If that doesn't work, try Rage3D (http://www.rage3d.com). These guys will definitely be able to help you out.

No luck. I didnt get a chance to try other programs, but with the latest drivers, Direct X 8.1, and fast writes disabled it still didnt work. Disabling fast writes actually made it slower. Any more ideas.

Uhm, check to see if FSAA is enabled?

No, FSAA is off. Its strange, because when i am in a small space and there are no other people around it runs around 100fps. Its only when i see someone, and it only takes one, that it dropes down into the 18, 12, 10 range.

Would you be able to reformat ?

Try closing everything when you play maybe a software conflict?

Well it still does it with windows running on a clean partition. It seems to be an unreal only problem though. The symptoms are exactly like when you run at AGP 1x, but im at 4x, and its just unreal. Maybe Unreal is disabling 4x??
