Im not totally sure if its supported but you could try ClockGen. You can download it at www.cpuid.com :)

Intel 440bx based motherboards are pretty oc freindly. There is a program Softfsb download it here : http://www.geocities.com/enigmadeadsouls/softfsb.html#softfsbdown

And use the Asus P2B-vm (based on same chipsets as your board) as the Target Mainboard. Good luck!:bday:

I'm not sure because no two processors systems are the same. You just have to figure your it out on your own, besides if I told what it could do it would take the fun out it.:bday:

your ram will be just fine, its rated at 133mhz, so it will be good up to at least 133fsb

According to the HP Support site the mobo has a 440ZX chipset, not BX. The board doesn't appear to natively support 133MHz FSB so the PCI bus probably won't reset to 33MHz if you get that high. If that's the case then don't expect much more that 112-115 FSB without a PCI lock.

Yes correct JLk03f150 but nd4spdbh2 stated that it is a Asus MEB-VM mainboard.
@ nd4spdbh2 Are you sure is the board you have Asus MEB-VM?

Asus supplied a lot of main board's to HP with a crippled OEM BIOS. I was assuming that's what is in this PC, not the overclockable aftermarket Asus version.

it is the Asus MEB-VM board but its from HP from the 4550z computer... i dont think it supports 133mhz ram or FSB for that matter. BUT it does say on it Asus MEB-VM... but its the OEM version no onboard audio and im sure of some other features.... think i can flash it with a retail Asus MEB-VM bios?

you are correct... its the OEM version.

EDIT: ok i found a bios from asus for this board... its an AWD file... how would i got about flashing it?

WOOOO HOOOO i got the Asus MEB-VM bios to work on the board... the chipset is a 440BX if that means n e thing... for some odd reason though it doesnt want to boot.... it posts fine, finds the hd on Primary Master and CD drive on Secondary Master, but then it goes to the next screen and just hangs.....

EDIT: UHHHOOOOO i think i skrewed up..... it doesnt want to boot up with n e thing.... it detects every thing and workes perfectly fine but once i get to the screen after post with PCI device listings it just hangs.....

Probably needs more vcore than what your mobo is feeding it then. You might d/l some tech docs from Intel on your proc and see what pins you need to jump to enable a higher vcore if you are so inclined. But I don't garrantee that will work even. :)

The ZX chipset is just an economy version of the BX chipset. But as far as what ZX doesn't support compared to the BX I really don't know. I remember reading somewhere years ago that info.

no see the thing is i didnt overclock it i just replaced the BIOS with the retail version of the board.. the BIOS still reports the cpu @ 500mhz so no oc and it detects all of the drives.... it just doesnt boot from them.

Also the bios reports the chipset as 440BX

rrrr i think i skrewed this board over by puttin on that bios... n e ways of deleting a bios without having to boot from a drive?

I would clear the cmos maybe the setting are diffrent from the other bios and or set the bios to default settings. Atleast thats what it says to do after you update the BIOS from the HP site F1 to enter bios F5 to reset it to default and F10 to save and exit. Might help might not  I donno if you can't boot from floppy or cd-rom after that I would say its done.

to clear cmos should i just take out the battery on the board with the comp unplugged....

i didnt use a bios from HP i used one from ASUS for the actual board.

I know but its worth a shot most older systems bios updates do require you to reset the cmos to default settings. You should be abile to reset it by unplugging it and pulling the battery for a min or so.

ok

lets take a look

great... bios checksum error.

take the battery out for a good 10min, is there a jumper for resetting bios?

nd4spdbh2
05-26-06, 03:43 PM
no jumper.... the mobo got raped from all of its important jumpers like multiplier and fsb jumper settings.... sort of ****es me off but i skrewed the board up n e ways or so i think.... used the retail version of the bios and do i hangs on the Verifying DMI pool data page. doesnt boot from n e thing...

Then why not reflash the OEM bios?

Then try a hard FSB mod.. Or software.

Then why not reflash the OEM bios?
It hangs before it will boot to floppy - or any other drive.

Is the chip a removeable one?

Wasn't there someone that was flashing chips in the classies?

nd4spdbh2

removable bios chips... ne\ver heard of that. and no this bios isnt removable.... wish it would just work....
