Before anyone wants to bash on the X2 because its made by X-Connect do some homework, it's not horrible. I was thinking about the X-Connect mostly because it's a sleek piece of eye candy, and the 12v rails seem to be up to par. The modstream also looks pretty nice and well its OCZ and got some good reviews.

2 Articles discussing the power supplies, i read over both. The X2 is on sale for $90 shipped, the modstream is $120 + shipping. I'm building a new rig, im trying to get a Conroe and an X1900XTX which means its going to need some power. I dont want to jeopardize a system over eye-candy but the X2 doesnt seem to be total garbage.
I really cant decide anyone got an opinion or some feedback?

I've was measuring up the X2 yesterday, even though a lot of people got good units, there's still that chance of getting a bad one. One of the review sites showed that it could only output at 67-69% efficiency, next to an Enermax and a Seasonic running around 98%. X-Connect just isn't a trusted brand, OCZ is used by a fair number of forum members. The Modstream gets my vote and my dollars.

I think you mean the PFC, not the PSU power conversion efficiency. No PSU will do 98% efficiency, most have trouble doing above 80%.
I'd rather see you with an Enermax Liberty model over these 2 units.

Yeah, I hate how people bash the X2 based on the older X-Connect. Get the X2, it'll be fine.

Any reason why?

A review on it. Sounds ok, it'll be $95 after rebate. I dont hear Enermax as much as other brands. Any reason for choosing this one?

Enermax is better than either of those 2 in build quality, and is probably among the best in modular PSU's with the Liberty line.
Wintech makes decent PSU's, nothing really wrong with the Ultra X2 line. It just isn't the same quality as the Enermax.

I'm not doubting you. But every says a PSU is better. But i dont understand why. They say its made better, but how do i know its made better? How do you prove its made better?

I have the modstream 520w and I don't use it. I get better performance out of my antec 500 TP.

The components used and craftmanship are what make a better PSU better...

If it were me, I would most likely go with OCZ. They have an excellent warranty and great customer support.

Well how can i tell if the components are better of it the craftmanship is better? Specifically what parts?

Heatsinks and caps are two. Not really sure about the other components but I'm sure there's more than that.

As far as I'm concerned, THE reason to buy an X2 is the extremely sleek "FlexForce" cables they use. There are tons of modular power supplies out anymore, but if I want to go all out to hide cables in the system, just having wires that are sleeved with heatshrink tubing at each end just does not cut it.
The "FlexForce" cables supplied with X2s work perfectly for going underneath and behind components (motherboard, motherboard tray, etc)
I'm fairly happy with my X2. The fan needs to be replaced, but from what I've read Ultra has a good RMA program, and I will send it in for a replacement when I get my new system built.
