I've had a company laptop for a year now and just got around to installating S@H last week. Threw the GUI on first to see what it would do (57hr WU, HA!). Working on downloading the CLC combo now. I forget how much dial-up sucks until I have to use this beast.
Anyway, it's a ThinkPad 600E with a P2 300. Is there ANY tweaking I can do to boost the processing time on this? It's really going to drag down my time/WU average, but at least it'll spit out a few more returns per week.
All I can really think of is to disable any and all shadowing options that may be in the BIOS and any power saving options that may be enabled in the OS itself such disabling the shutting down of hard drives after such and such time, hibernation, etc.
Being a laptop I'm sure it won't have a whole lot you can do to it but anything at all may help a little.
As far as decreasing WU times...I'd much rather lose an hour or two on my average and gain an extra WU a day as well...
OEM machines don't give you a whole lot of tweaking options - well virtually none. I'm guessing about the only thing you can do is tweak your OS, make sure power saving features are turned off and you strip the OS down as much as possible. Given those specs you should be able to cut the times down to the 20 something hour range with the clc.

If you have a lot of RAM just shadow to RAM don't disable it. One my Celeron system by doing that I shaved an hour off my times.

Thanks for the info, guys. FYI, the CLC is up and running on this one. The first WU on the GUI was 57hrs. The first WU on the CLC should finish just under 32 hrs. Not a bad performance boost, eh? :)
