Joy, more things to pulg in when i move this thing, heh :p

Getting a little cramped in there hehe.

does anyone know if such little space between those cards would effect cooling? cuz the tv tuner thing on the tv card (the big silver thingy) gets rather warm when under use. should i mod my case and add a 120mm fan to blow air over all the cards?
maybe i should to be on the safe side.
w00t! i can watch tv and listen to the radio on here. One less thing i need to get away from my computer to do, hehe.
now if i can just solve the food problem, maybe my next purchase will be a mini fridge ;)

they're driver support is most excellant....a new version of the viewer and driver almost every month...and there are noticable differences!!!

could u post some screen shots?...im curious as to how good the picture looks on your higher end hauppauge

and yes, they do get a bit hot....i have my 120mm position right in front of my pci/agp slots....

one bad thing about the card is you'll get so used to using the numpad for switching the channel...that when u pick up a normal remote it'll confuse you at first LOL

Samzik: max rez is 1600x1200 and yes it does have the radio, on the first picture that has everything you see that white coil? thats the FM antena, and it plugs into the top coax plug on the tv card. gets good reception with that hugeass antena :)

Will: sure ill post a few scrennies of the picture. whats the keyboard command to take a shot of the active window again? i cant rember it :p
and i dont use the numpad, lol i prefer the remote :)
funny thing is the remote for the tv card also works on the tv in the other room, hehe.

Nice card, I've got the one down from it. They do get hot.

The key to do a screen shot is <Print Screen/SysRq>

Then paste it into paint and resize.

nono, the print screen takes a shot of everything on the screen, theres one that just takes a shot of the active window.

I would recommend a 120MM fan on the sidewall of your case blowing on the cards. That way they get proper ventillation.

I been thinking about getting a TV card for myself. Except, I don't watch enough TV. Can you record programs from your TV card to your harddrive, or do you need somthing else (video capture card) for that? Noticed you also have an Audigy in there. Good call! :)

And BigRed, where is that avatar from? It's very disturbing!!

huh. I have the Phoebe brand card and it looks exactly like yours. I wonder if they are made by the same people.
Mine cost $55.

um... the clipboard image wont open in paint
how do i save the clipboard contents as a picture file?

The tv card cost $120 new

Wally: i can record tv onto the hard drive, but i have little precious hd space so i cant record much :). ive recorded an episode of the simpsons just to test it and it took up 700mb for just 20min
just gotta wait for more money to get new hard drives :)

And BigRed, where is that avatar from? It's very disturbing!!
oh jeez, not the avatar thing again. its not that disturbing. well not to people who play many games :p
like i said before if enough people hate it ill remove it. but if you find it disturbing you dont play that many games or just E rated ones :p

No, not disturbing as in, "Ew, that's gross, get rid of it," but disturbing as in, "Is that what a headshot looks like? It's a well done effect!" I just wondered where it came from.

How much did the whole episode of The Simpsons take up on your hard drive? 100GB HDDs are out, and they're not OVERLY expensive. So, that might be a good investment with a TV card.

lol sorry about that then, im a little quick on the flame trigger :)
my freind made the avatar. hes good at computer animation :)
the whole episode of simpsons took up 700mb (i edited out the commercials so it was 20 min afterwards)
i was thinking of buying 4 hdds and setting up a raid 0 + 1
but that involves getting a new computer case to fit everything in. :)
next paycheck im gonna buy a case and mod it then transfer my computer then start looking for some ibm drives :)

hmm....for capture i wouldn't use the software they bundle with the hauppauge...as you say....its VERY big

personally i use real-producer...and the files for a 20 min cartoon around around 100 meg....and its pretty darn good quality...

also..if u don't want to pay..windows movie maker does a decent job...and im sure theres plent of freeware programs out there that'll do the same thing, maybe better :)

I'll PM you more about the Avatar, if'n you don't mind.

700MB, for a 20 minute movie? Not bad. And it recorded just with the software and hardware that came with the TV card? And how much was the card?

_Will_

oh...and for screen shots....just do the whole screen....then in paint

select with the box the window u want: cut: open new: paste

I gotta question related to this-I tried a TV wonder in My XP but couldn't get it to work with my GForce 2 video card and returned it. The question is do I go with your nice WinTV tuner or I could get the Radeon all in one Wonder 32mgDDR for about the same price. My Duron needs a real video card so I could put my GeForce in there and the all in wonder in my XP. So what should it be a nice WIntv tuner or a new Radeon all in one wonder 32DDR?

Cheers

i say just get a sepereate tv card, i dont really like the all in wonder, cuz if you wanna upgrade you loose your video capture/tv tuner abailites. unless they made a all in wonder radeon 8500 soon ;)

Fightingpiper

They do make the 8500 all in one wonder but at $399 is just a bit out of my and most peoples price range but a good point on uprading.

Hey BigRed,
Just curious about how your TV-tuner card is going, I'm just wondering what it is like in picture quality, the quality of the software and what it is like in using it as a video recorder (if possible) ?

Actually I retruned the card B4 I ever got it working. In the meantime I found a site that I think would have dealt with the issue I was having and here it is for further reference http://www.geforcefaq.com/faq.cgi#hw:gef:troub:tvcard . I have since upgraded to a GF3Ti200 Videocard so thats where my money went. I've also looked at the WinTV cards but I think the ATI offers more bang for the buck. Maybe after x-mas i'll look into getting another as I want to also use it as a video recorder.

Cheers!
