What is the model number?
AFAIK, they don't have a 550w BlueStorm model.

I think he has the Ax500a judging from his sig. As far as rating it, I have the same PSU, For what I need its perfect so I give it a 10, Everyone has different needs though so you can't really judge an individual PSU across the board, What is perfect for me is inadequate for someone else.

Which is really a 460w unit :p
Very good build quality but none of that matters if it does not perform up to par with your system.
As long as it is running well, it is a good PSU ;)

8.5 for the AX500-A - marks taken off for capacitor quality, only passive PFC, and lack of independant regulation. Other than that, these are extremely reliable and extremely popular.

Qtec is definitely not in the same range as the Fortron in build quality.
It should do you well. I'd think your motherboard might limit you as well.

Ignore this man, Qtec is an amazing brand. Very reliable and I would recommend them to anyone.
Just kidding they're horrible.

i didnt realise that ECS mobo's are that bad?...guess i must be wrong i tok out anb asus P5gd1 and replaced it with this...i did ask if anyone had any info on ecs boards but didnt get much response...i read a few reviews on the net about the ECS boards and they said that they were a good mid range board....whats your opinion then?
What are the performance benefits of a top of the line mobo and is it only best to have the top of the line board if you are overclocking?

I wouldn't call a i945X or i955X mobo top of the line really, well i955X seem to work just as well as the i975X big dogs.
You might not have gotten much resopnce from the ECS quesitons because they are avoided
Asus is the perfered manifacture of Intel boards, even with the Vdroop (all mobo's have this to some degree).
The PSU would be high on the list of primary components with the MOBO btw.

What do you mean by the PSU would be high on the list of primary components with the mobo....do you mean in terms on how important it is to the overclock?

You have a single core CPU and a single GFX card from the looks of things your incoming PSU just might do the trick
