Just ran some benchmarks:
3D Mark 05 = 7111
3D Mark 03 = 14383
Here's the link to my 3DMark 05.
3DMark 05 (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=2005779)
EDIT: You should go to the ORB on 3DMark's website and search for 7800 gs's. There is a guy that got over 9000 with one.
His overclocks were crazy.

mines up there, but i only check for the amd xp athlon guys :D
i hold the top 3d05 mark with a 256mb card and an XP, but that was a few weeks ago, so its prolly not now. Plus im not on aproved drivers (just the albatron ones)
7100 is good, i topped 7184 @ 500/1500 clocks. (mark up there is 7031 at 485/1500)
only problem i have is that the memclock to so high it can't be applied on startup!!
my mem has more in it too, but my proc lets me down so no point going higher :(

hope the link works...

Is everyone using stock cooling? Perhaps my eVGA card just sucks, but I have difficulty getting past 455/1400. Even at 455 core I get artifacting in HL2 EP1 occasionally when it gets too warm in the room.

It's possible, but I've gotta get some proper airflow in my case and give the card a dedicated molex. I've got several fans for my radiator on the same line. If all else fails I can always voltmod it.

Got my MSI 7800gs up to 498/1489, still a bit more to go, but as with
Hipcrostino my cpu is also holding it back. p4 2.6c@3.21 with p4p800
dlx droop mod and new Antec smartpower 2.0 500w. My old Generic
400W PSU had leaky capacitors in it, lucky I caught it before the possible
big bang happened.
Still, I can run most games including COD 2 at high settings with AA/AF
smooth as silk, before 9800xt was struggling with COD2 , not sure why
as I know someone with a AMD 1800XP chip and exactly the same vid
card ran it much better.
It is winter in Brisbane Australia now so possible in the summer with
30+ temperatures won't get as good overclocks. Best I got so far in
3dMARK 05 is 6297 at 3.25ghz, system not stable at that though.

Hey hey!
I'm new to this forum but i've been overclocking ever since i learned that money is a finite resource.
i got an xfx 7800gs, and this is what i got it too (the coolbit reg wont let me go any higher so nuts to them.)
Core Mem 3dMark05
stock: 440, 1300, 4715
coolbits optimal: 497, 1410, 4883
500, 1420, 4497
517, 1440, 5050
no arti's and no white dots (yay for me)
my 4 runs when i got 3dmark'05
now i am on 91.28 beta drivers and futuremark won't run :(

wow theres more info than i can handle! lolz
my cooling it stock with ~50*c load temps. HL2 ep1 started snowing at 1500, so knocked it back to 1470 and its fine. But my cpu is only running at 2.2Ghz now :(. still plays smooth as on high everything, but no AA :(
Woo i got 4.0fps in cpu test 02!

HL2 is very CPU dependent, so racheting down your CPU clock speed will definitely have an impact. My rig runs smoothly EP1 at 1680x1050 with HDR and 2xAA and either 4x or 8x AF (don't remember exactly). It's not that much more powerful than your rig but it's enough to run EP1 very nicely at high settings and AA/AF on. You may want to upgrade to current CPU architecture whenever Conroe comes out and dual core AM2 chip prices get slashed. It does make a considerable difference. And it'll probably run a lot cooler too.
