Hi all

I consider going for the Gskill extreme 2GB kit for my new build.
However, when I checked what seems to be the only retailer
in my country, selling this product, they got a list of recommended
motherboards for it. There where no motherboard recommendations
for other RAM sticks they had. I was thinking about getting an ASUS
board, but the recommended boards where either DFI or MSI.

Do you agree with these recommendations? Does these particular RAM
sticks put special demands on the motherboard? Should I consider
a different board if I insist on PC4000?

Thanks in advance
Fred

It should be fine its just that MSI and DFI have the 2 best overclocking mobo's and thats the boards G Skill use's to test their ram im sure..But it should work great with any mobo with the NF4 or better series chipset .One other thing i believe DFI and MSI use more relaxed defaukt ram setting which make it easier for ram to hit its rated speed.I know my OCZ PC3200 Platinum Rev2's can do well over 300mhz on my Ultra D but they couldnt do anywere near 300 on my old MSI neo 2

If your doing a new build why dont you go with the AM2 they cost the same and DDR2 is a little cheaper than DDR1 atm and the mobos cost about the same to

heh? in malaysia DDR2 is a little more expensive than DDR1. oh btw, is socket AM2 is same thing as S939? i thought they just gave it a name difference so that people won't get it mixed up.

AM2 is a 940 socket but i dont think it will work with the 0rignal 940 socket amd 64's.I wish they had kept it 939

i know this is a little off topic but its very AMD like to go through so many different types of CPU interfaces like this...they might as well just call them selves intel at this rate
