Remedial cable question.

Ok, I'm building my first system and have a question about drive cables.

Is the middle connector on the IDE cable for the primary or secondary drive?

Yes.

Essentially, if you use the master and slave settings on the drive itself, it doesn't matter. The only time that matters is if you use the cable select setting. But I myself have never gotten that to work right.
