Is AMD faster than Intel in general?
Where can I find some HARD evidence that this is true?

at the same clock speed, yes, an Athlon is faster Than a pentium 4. With each manufacturer's fastst chip, however, the Intel will pull away, but the lower clocked Athlon will still beat it in certain tests. As for hard eveidence just go to Tom's Hardware (http://www.tomshardware.com).

Do you do digital editing?
Yes - get the P4
No - get the AMD
Why?
AMD is lean and mean where as the P4 is way bloated and cumbersome. Plus supporting the underdog is more fun!
Just read in here and at tom's hardware .... or any computer site AMD always finishes better when compared at equal speeds... 1Gb against a 1Gb, etc.

Hmmm compare my scores w/pentium4 1.5ghz 256RDRAM against my bro's athlonXP 1800+(1.53ghz) with 256 DDRRAM and you see which one is better very quickly. I get an average of 2000-3000/1000-2000 He get's an average of 4000/3000
And on the multimedia cpu benchmark it's even a greater gap. Now at twice the score at practically the same rated cpu(mhz) you can judge for yourself. Neither is overclocked. I can get screenshots from him and myself if you want them. Oh and there's something I forgot to mention. The latest XP chip will beat the latest Intel cheap in most tests! Even the XP1800+ will mainly beat the Intel 2.0ghz. If anyone wants links or anything just ask!

The benchies this XP produces are mind boggling. My 1725MHz is almost the equivalent of what "would be" an XP 2100+ (13x133=1729, I'm running 11.5x150=1725) At default, the 1800+ has been proven to outbench the P4 1.8 just about across the board, and match well against the P4 2.0. I can only imagine that at my speed, if would outbench the P4 2.0 just about across the board too.
I can only imagine what these do with water and/or a peltier. :eek:
