i`m a perfectionist - so this problem is bugging the hell outta me - please read and help if possible! i`m desperate to sort it!

might help if i give a bit of detail about my spec:

mobo: abit bx133 raid with latest bios update
cpu: pIII 700 running at 933 [133fsb]
256mb ram, voodoo5 5500, some nice 100mbs network card and a Genius 32x soundcard.

anyway, on to the problem:

whilst watching Video on my PC [i do this ALOT as i do alot of work in video on my various PC`s and at the same time i transfer my vhs tapes over to PC for pure ease of use], every half an hour approx. it will skip forward in the video by about one second. this happens on mpeg, mpeg2, divx4 and so on [my problem has no bias - lol]

its not a huge problem i guess, but i`ve spent so long making everything perfect that this problem is really annoying.

i`m pretty new to overclocking although i`ve done it a fair few times i don`t know the ins and outs of it therefore meaning that when summit goes wrong i get stuck.

actually - no, one moment, maybe it isn`t to do with the overclocked CPU - i tried un o/ci`ng it and watching a film and it still happened.

see, i got this motherboard from a friend who never had any such problem. i installed it from a fresh windows install to get rid of any possible problems with old Via chipset drivers. i`ve replaced the gfx card, network card, soundcard and same problem... i`m bummed right out.

any help with things i should do? i`d rather have someone tell me exactly what would fix it but thats not gonna happen is it...

anyways, i`m sorry for my gibbering and verbal garbage - but i need help cos i`m starting to feel dense.

Do you have Windows Media Player 7, Divx 4 codec and the Angelpotion MPEG 4 codec properly installed? Or it might be the software that you use to rip the videos on to PC. I use CinePlayer DVR (previously called WinVCR), and it doesnt have any problems.

no - i know its definately just a playback problem - various video captured on various devices i use [mainly pinnacle and hauppage] on different machines. they work perfectly on other machines and if i skip back the video to just before it skipped it`ll play the same part fine.

i use just divx4 final and i no longer have any other codecs installed apart from the ones supplied with win98se.

i tried media player 7 - but it was too much hassle. it royally stinks (well, IMHO anyways)

i talked to an engineer i know, who was stumped as to what it could be - he`s not that much of a techy but all he could suggest was a timing fault.. so not much help to me.

if we talk video input, editing etc. then i can gibber tech talk all day but this stuff is too much for my poor little head - and i`m all outta money to throw at this
