Hi,
Just got a P3 Slot 1 (SECC2) 1GHz to upgrade the 450MHz unit that came with my Asus P3B-F m/board. Trouble is, I now can't find a supplier (in the UK) for the fan/heatsink assembly I need for this baby - all the usual guys just say it's "old stuff" and not available any more. Can't believe that, so I'm appealing for help from you guys........
From what I understand , the Cooler Master DS2-5FD3 should do the job, but I'll go with whatever works.
Does anyone out there know of someone who can supply what I need? - preferably in the UK, but I'll buy from the States if necessary.
Please post suggestions here or e-mail me direct to steve2uk@hotmail.com.
Thanks in advance!
Steve

Do you have relatives in the states? Maybe you can bid and pay with a credit card get it shipped to your relatives and they can ship to you.. or just find another one!
Hi Steve,
Take a look at http://www.dealsdirect.com/coolers/globalwin.htm
Global Win VGS08-H Cooler for Pentium III Slot 1 CPUs, 16.21USD.
I have no idea if they ship outside US tough. They have a chain in Canada also (www.dealsdirect.ca) and this is how I know about them.
Is your new processor for 100MHz? Or 133 and you plan to oveclock your MB FSB? What BIOS version do you have for P3B-F to use such a high multiplier? I have a P3B-F and I upgraded recently from a PIII 550 to a PIII 850, with BIOS version 1.0.0.4 it worked perfectly (at 8.5x, according with the Intel processor speed utility and WCPUID) but the BIOS Setup wasn't able to display the correct multiplier, it was reporting just 4.5x. Upgraded to 1.0.0.6 and had this fixed. I wonder if 1.0.0.6 works with higher multipliers too.. Thanks.

The VGS is good but .. I think Alpha's are better the P3125 or something the series are really hard to remember ..
And Deals Direct is a very good local store here in ottawa..
I mean they sell Crucial Ram and stuff other computer stores don't sell..
There's even a store here called RBComputing and they sell Koolance cases!!
I'm going to get my next computer at RB Computing or at least some components.. I mean they sell an Epox 8Kha+ there.. eheh

i would suggest you get the Vos-32 best compromise between performance and price, the VGSO8H does keep my PIII600@800(ram cant handle too much higher) about 13C above ambient (when ambient is 22C it runs about 35 when running folding@home, and about 38C with CPUBURN)......
By the way do you have a slotket? You'll need it.
