I have an HP Pavilion 8766c (for anyone who has this model or a similar one, they know what I'm talking about). There's a heatsink on the CPU, but the fan isn't directly on the Heatsink, as it's more of a case fan than a CPU fan. They put the fan to blow cold air inside the case. The processor is right in front of the fan. Is it better for this comp to blow cold air inside the case, or the fan to throw outside the case the hot air ?

EDIT : BTW, it'S a Pentium 3 900MHz

You want cold air coming in. It sounds kinda like a Duct set-up and in those they have the air coming in.

Thanks ! :)

But what if the comp is standing in a table, and the fan is 3/4 burried under the back of the table, which has a sort-of thing which blocks the air to arrive correctly at the fan ?

well in that st up you won't be AS good at cooling becuase you have an object blocking your air flow....

The best setup would be one either side, one blowing cool air across the fins and one blowing the hot air out after it had been through the fins.
