is it possible to OC my old PII 350?
if so how fast could i get it to run.
does this setup overclock?

pII 350 (slot 1) stock cpufan
the motherboard is a Aopen 440bx (66fsb, i think)
pc100 sdram.

Or does anyone know what the fastest cpu this board could run is?

thx

You can probably squeeze a little out of that CPU, but the real factor is whether your motherboard has adjustable FSB settings. That's the key to overclocking Intel CPUs, increasing the FSB. Those P-II's will generally overclock fairly easily to 400-500, with some exceptional ones with good cooling going even higher.

The 440BX is the Intel chipset that motherboard uses, you need to find out what actual model it is and then look at the below provided link to find out more. My guess is that it will support most slot one P-IIIs. If you use a slotket, it'll support most socket 370 Celeron and P-III processors.

TRy adjusting the motherboard fsb first if you can..

TRy 75mhz FSB.

I believe the 350's were the first to run on 100MHz FSB, so he would need to bump it up to 112 instead.

Whats cheaper a slot key and a new chip?
or a new cpu and board?

Opps I thought he was on a Celeron..

The slotket is cheaper since if you were to buy a new chip you would require a new motherboard.

Slotket + Chip

hi,

1. you can buy a convertor in a shop (duh :) ) or second hand.
just look through the products on a site/store.

2. Make sure it is a fcpga capable convertor. Only those can handle the coppermine cpu's (Celeron2 and P3).

The other older option (fpga.., ppga?? dunno 4 sure) can only handle mendocino core celerons.

3. check if the mobo itself (not the convertor) can supply the cpu with 1.75Volt.

As for cpu.. C900 and 1000 seems a good choice.
