Just wondering, ive got two memory sticks right now (512 333mhz, 512 400mhz) and was going to upgrade my memory size. If I buy just 1 1gb stick and loose the old 512, will i see a performance drop?

Yes, you will loose the benefit of dual channel if you run with just one stick.

You could just add the 1GB stick to what you already have and it should be fine.

thats what i mean, but i wasnt running dual channel anyways......
Speaking of which, is it required to run dual channel on a dual channel board? and if you have the board and two identical sticks(that are not DC rated) can you run in DC?

1) its not required to run dual channel on a dual channel board.
2) yes, you can run dual channel with unidentical sticks, provided you have the dual channel board

so you have 2 now, and you want to get 1 more...

it says that running 3 sticks can cause problems in the mobo manual.
